  1. Cook the apples as for sauce.
  2. Stir in the butter and sugar.
  3. Let cool and add the beaten eggs.
  4. Butter a baking dish thoroughly, strew the bottom and sides thickly with bread-crumbs; turn in the apple mixture, cover the top with bread-crumbs and bake.
  5. Turn out when done and grate sugar over the top.
